Arrogate is the current world #1 when it comes to horse racing. The Dubai World Cup approaches, and having won both of his previous two starts, he puts his record at stake once again as the 3rd-ranked Gun Runner is set to run as well. Does Gun Runner have a chance against the Breeder’s Cup Classic champ?
It’s incredibly difficult to say. Arrogate is no doubt the favourite at 1-3 odds. However, he will need to come to play this Saturday at Meydan racecourse.
The colt will be making his first start since winning the inaugural running of the $12-million Pegasus World Cup (G1) at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28. The win was his sixth in seven career starts and he has already earned over $11 million.

The late-maturing Gun Runner will face a full field of 13 other horses in the World Cup, including the top-rated horse in the world, Arrogate. Gun Runner scored his first Grade 1 win last fall, besting older horses in the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs after many of his fellow Triple Crown competitors had already retired for the season. Despite missing the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park due to an Equine Herpesvirus outbreak at his winter base of the Fair Grounds, Gun Runner was able to get in a solid prep race in the Feb. 20 Razorback Handicap, winning easily by 5 3/4 lengths.

Gun Runner will have to run the best race of his career if he wants to pull of the upset. However, the chance exists for him.
